Mosaics consist of two layers of materials and are composed mainly of marble powder, black and white cement, various sizes of marble / stone chippings and sand. The production process although not labour intensive, requires constant monitoring. Today's technological revolution however, creates possibilities for substantial reductions in labour and materials costs and product quality improvements.

The production of hand made mosaics and mosaic tiles is divided into five major phases:

• Raw materials' preparation
• Forming and pressing
• Curing
• Grinding
• Polishing and Packaging
